Do you feel like your job is your calling? Do you have the mistaken idea that only people "in the ministry" are "called" to ministry?

A few years ago, as I was driving a nail while restoring a historic building in Farmersville, Texas I had this thought; "God wants me to drive this nail. It may not be "ministry" work, but it is what He wants me to do. It is what He has called me to do today. It may seem unimportant in light of the many things I "could" be doing, but He thinks this is what I "should" be doing. He knows best, so I will drive this nail, and do my job as best as I can. I will learn every lesson from it as well as I can...so I will be ready for His next assignment." I finished restoring that building and sold it. Soon after that I was called to start a church. That church ended up reaching thousands of folks, many blue collared, that I could easily identify with all the more because I had been getting my hands dirty.

So, don't ever feel like your job or career is worth less than that of one in "the ministry". Yes, it is a humbling privilege to be "called to the ministry". But, everyone isn't called to be Pastors or any other office. If all were who would get shoulder to shoulder with those God wants to see His love? So, Keep up the GOOD work!
